Joanne Wilson, owner of VIP Travel in Jackson, was a guest at the fund for the girls Kick Off Party in August 2012. Joanne left the party knowing what she was going to do to help. As a travel agent with access to many fine hotels, Joanne’s idea was to raffle off a fun trip. She contacted various hotels about her vision for the project, and the result was Putting on the Ritz, a trip to three Ritz Carlton properties in driving distance of Atlanta, Georgia.
The winner, Mary Ellen Yarbrough, was announced on October 25, 2012 on WLBT at the conclusion of the 5 p.m. broadcast during the "Power of Pink" finale at Kinkade's Fine Clothing in Olde Towne in Ridgeland. Raffle tickets were $100 each. During the live "Power of Pink" broadcast, there was great mention of fund for the girls!
The prize was a fabulous trip for two including two nights each at three 5-star Ritz-Carlton properties, and round-trip airfare to Atlanta.
In addition to the money raised by the raffle, there was a lot of great publicity about fund for the girls. And the winner received this great prize:
Enjoy the sights, shopping and dining of Atlanta in a luxurious, deluxe club-level room.
Named as a 2012 AAA Five Diamond Lodging and 2011 Forbes Four-Star resort, this property is located in Greensboro, Georgia, 75 miles from Atlanta on Lake Oconee.
The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island was chosen as one of the top resorts in the U.S. and Canada by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. The resort was also named to Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List. Amelia Island is near Jacksonville, Florida, an easy drive from Atlanta.
